Aesthetic, or cosmetic dentistry, includes several dental treatments; the aim of each of these treatments is to enhance the beauty of your child’s smile. By offering tooth-colored fillings and porcelain crowns, Dr. M. Danielle Funny and our team strive to restore your child’s smile to a natural appearance. Aesthetic dentistry can help your child achieve a more beautiful smile that boosts their self-esteem, allowing them to smile with confidence.

Aesthetic dentistry might be the solution your child needs if their smile is flawed by imperfections such as:

  • Cracked, chipped, fractured or broken teeth
  • Gaps and spaces between teeth
  • Discolored or stained teeth
  • Slightly misaligned or uneven teeth
  • One or more missing teeth
  • Teeth that appear too long, too short or too pointed
  • Very worn teeth

Our pediatric dentist will help you choose one or more of our high-quality aesthetic dental treatments based on your personal needs and desires for your child.

Stainless Steel and Porcelain Crowns

Occasionally, your child may have a tooth that is damaged and requires restoration beyond a filling. When this occurs, Dr. Funny may recommend a dental crown to restore the shape, function and appearance of the tooth. Many of our pediatric dental crowns are made from stainless steel, as they cap primary teeth rather than permanent teeth. However, we also offer porcelain crowns. Dr. Funny will determine if your child is a candidate for porcelain crowns. Both options can give your child back a healthy, functional smile.

Composite (Tooth-Colored) Fillings

If your child develops a cavity, Dr. Funny will provide a composite (tooth-colored) filling to restore the tooth. A dental filling is a restoration used to repair minor to moderate tooth decay. We may also recommend a filling if your child’s tooth suffers from a small fracture or chip. The dental filling is used to restore the tooth to its original structure and function and to return your child’s smile to good health.

Dr. Funny will first remove the decayed and damaged portion of the tooth and then clean the tooth to remove all traces of decay. Secondly, the tooth is filled with composite material and adjusted to match the tooth’s shape. Finally, the filling is hardened with a curing light for a lasting restoration.
